About this map

Blandford and North Blandford occupy the central and northwestern highlands of this 1975 orthophotoquad, a landscape defined by significant water management projects. To the south, the massive footprint of the Cobble Mountain Reservoir and the adjacent Borden Brook Reservoir dominate the terrain, reflecting the mid-20th-century infrastructure developed to support regional water needs. The northern edge of the sheet is marked by the Huntington area where the West Branch Westfield River cuts through the topography. This aerial perspective, prepared by the Geological Survey and the Massachusetts Department of Public Works, provides a literal view of the forest cover and clearing patterns surrounding Blair Pond during the mid-1970s.
