Much of the southern and western portions of the quadrangle are dominated by the Beaver Creek State Public Hunting Grounds, a sprawling wetland and forest tract. Within these conservation lands, researchers can identify the Beaver Lookout Tower and a Fish Hatchery near Walker Creek. The terrain is defined by glacial features, from Spring Rapids in the north to numerous kettle lakes like Kirby Lake, Marl Lake, and Left Foot Lake that dot the wooded countryside.
