The international border between Canada and the United States of America cuts diagonally across this 2018 survey, marking the northwestern edge of Aroostook County, Maine. This high-country drainage landscape is defined by the headwaters of several remote waterways. The Rivière des Deux Milles flows through the northern Canadian section, while the American side is dominated by the branching networks of N Br Twomile Brook, S Br Twomile Brook, and the Br of Fivemile Brook. Transport into this wooded interior is limited to a few arterial paths, most notably Branch Rd and Robinson Rd, which provide access through the dense network of wetlands and contour-rich terrain that characterizes this borderland region.
