St. Marys and the surrounding Elk County highlands are defined by the winding waters of the East Branch Clarion River and its expansive reservoir. The landscape is a network of deep-cut valleys and named hollows, including Whittaker Hollow and Briggs Hollow, that drain the surrounding summits. Smaller settlements like Glen Hazel and Rasselas sit alongside local landmarks such as Pistner Hill and the Holy Cross Cem.
