Goldsmith Oil Field and several surrounding petroleum basins define this Permian Basin landscape during the mid-1960s. The settlement of Goldsmith serves as the primary hub, supported by a nearby Oil Camp and a network of pipelines and service roads that crisscross the arid terrain. Unlike many desert regions, the area is dotted with numerous small water bodies, including Prairie Dog Lake, Coyote Lake, and Antelope Lake, which provide distinctive natural landmarks amidst the industrial infrastructure.
