Day Creek and the southern reaches of the Skagit Valley define this landscape, where the valley floor meets the rising peaks of the Cultus Mountains. This 2017 survey shows the transition from the fertile lowlands near Ross Island to the timbered heights of Haystack Mountain and Little Haystack Mountain. The drainage patterns are clearly delineated, tracing the paths of Sorenson Cr, Morgan Cr, and Gilligan Cr as they flow toward the Skagit River.
