The Skagit Valley lowlands meet the rising elevations of the Cultus Mountains in this topographic study of Skagit County. The northern edge follows the S Skagit Hwy, where the small settlement of Day Creek sits near the river's southern banks and Ross Island. As the terrain climbs toward the south, the landscape becomes dominated by high peaks including Haystack Mtn, Talc Mtn, and the flat-topped Table Mtn. This area is defined by a complex drainage network, where Gilligan Cr and Rocky Cr carve through deep ravines like Rocky Canyon. Scattered mountain lakes such as Dixie Lake, Wagner Lake, and Gordon Lake are tucked between the ridges. Local roads like Walberg Rd and Potts Rd provide access to the foothills, while the southern reaches remain primarily defined by their natural landforms and the E Fork Nookachamps Cr headwaters.
