The Mojave National Preserve encompasses a significant portion of this high-desert landscape in San Bernardino County, where the topography is defined by the Clark Mountain Range and the Ivanpah Mountains. At the base of these peaks, Wheaton Springs serves as a notable focal point, situated near its namesake Wheaton Spring and the drainage of Wheaton Wash. The eastern edge of the quadrangle transitions into the flat, alkaline expanse of Ivanpah Lake, a stark contrast to the surrounding summits.
