Sandbridge Beach stands as a primary coastal settlement along the narrow barrier spit separating the Atlantic Ocean from a complex network of brackish bays. This coastal landscape is defined by the expansive waters of North Bay, Shipps Bay, and Back Bay, where numerous points and marshes like Stinger Marsh and Sandbridge Marsh create a highly fragmented shoreline. To the west, the mainland transitions into the communities of Sigma and Dawley Corners, connected by a network of winding roads including Atwoodtown Rd and Sandbridge Rd. The area is characterized by an intricate drainage system featuring Ashville Bridge Creek and Beggars Bridge Creek, which feed into protected coves such as Landing Cove and Great Cove. These waterways historically supported the navigation and livelihoods of residents on Charity Neck and the many named islands, such as Long Island and Ragged Island.
