2001 Map of Pacific Valley

About this map

The Mokelumne Wilderness and surrounding forest lands converge in this high-elevation mountain terrain at the turn of the 21st century. The landscape is defined by a dense network of glacial lakes and meadows, including Meadow Lake, Lower Blue Lake, and the expansive Sandy Meadow near the southern boundary. This map captures a intersection of four different national forests—Eldorado, Toiyabe, Stanislaus, and Mokelumne—marking a complex administrative zone where the Amador Alpine and Amador Calaveras lines meet. Historical evidence of human presence is noted at the Stevenot Camp (Site) and a Historical Monument located near the North Fork Mokelumne River. The rugged topography is navigable only by a few 4WD tracks and footpaths like the Ranger Trail, illustrating the remote character of the Pacific Grade Summit and its surrounding peaks.
