Lake Mead National Recreation Area occupies this desert landscape, where the waters of Lake Mead meet the eastern edges of the Black Mountains. The map documents a rugged interface of water and stone, showing the winding shorelines of Virgin Basin, Teakettle Bay, and Petroglyph Bay.
