Rincon Mountain overlooks a narrow corridor of coastal development where the Santa Barbara Channel meets the rugged California shoreline. This 2012 survey documents the tight cluster of communities and industrial infrastructure along the Rincon Hwy, including La Conchita and Muscle Shoals. The map reveals the relationship between the natural geography of Punta Gorda and the man-made features that extend into the Pacific, such as the man-made Rincon Island and the neighboring Richfield Pier. Further south along the coast, the topography yields to Madranio Canyon and Javon Canyon before reaching the surfing and residential enclave of Faria near Pitas Point. The layout illustrates the precarious balance of coastal living where steep terrain meets the narrow beaches of the Santa Barbara Channel.
