The northern reaches of the White Hills define this arid landscape within the eastern corridor of the Mojave Desert. This territory is primarily managed as part of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, where the drainage of Detrital Wash cuts a prominent path through the valley floor toward the Colorado River system. The terrain is dominated by high desert peaks, most notably Mojave Peak, which rises as a distinct landmark above the surrounding basins.
