Turquoise Mtn rises above the high desert floor in this arid section of San Bernardino County, where the northern reaches of the Mojave National Preserve protect a landscape defined by seasonal drainages and remote springs. Grounded by Halloran Spring in the southern portion of the quadrangle, the area features a network of ephemeral watercourses including Riggs Wash, Bull Spring Wash, and Halloran Wash. These natural features dictated the early paths of travel through the Mojave Desert, now traced by routes such as Halloran Springs Rd and Francis Spg Rd. The survey reveals a sparse but significant geography where the Silurian Hills overlook the vast basins, highlighting the isolation of these historic water sources in a landscape shaped by extreme topography.
