The village of Wanda serves as the central hub for this late-1960s survey of Redwood County, where the rail-and-water geography of southwestern Minnesota is clearly defined. The Chicago and North Western railroad bisects the landscape, running parallel to Sleepy Eye Creek and providing a transport corridor through the townships of Waterbury and Willow Lake. This period of land management is marked by the establishment of the Willow Lake State Wildlife Management Area and the Lamberton State Wildlife Management Area, showing a transition toward dedicated conservation zones amidst the agricultural grid.
