The Continental Divide winds through this section of the Gila National Forest, a landscape defined by the intersection of the Pinos Altos Range and the Mimbres River drainage. This high-elevation terrain is marked by a complex network of canyons and historical transport routes, including the Woodhaul Wagon Rd Trl and the Allie Canyon Trl. Settled areas are sparse, represented by Gattons Park in the north and the isolated Hicks Cem near the eastern boundary.
