1919 Map of Asbury Park

USGS Topo · Published 1921

About this map

The Jersey Shore coastline from Asbury Park south to Mantoloking is captured here during a period of significant coastal development and rail expansion. While the northern beach towns like Ocean Grove and Belmar show the dense street grids of established resorts, the interior of Monmouth and Ocean Counties remains largely rural and forested. The intricate hydrology of the Manasquan River and Metedeconk River dominates the central landscape, with numerous branches such as Polhemus Branch and Tice Branch reaching into the pinelands near Lakewood.
