Bear Mtn anchors the high ground of the Wyoming interior, marking a prominent divide where the headwaters of several drainages begin their descent. To the south, Elk Creek winds through the hills, while the northern slopes feed into Bear Cr and its tributaries, including W Fork Bear Cr and E Fork Bear Cr. The terrain is defined by its drainage systems, including the deep cuts of N Fork Canyon Cr and S Fork Canyon Cr that intersect the landscape west of the mountain summit.
