Pike National Forest covers the northern half of this high-elevation quadrangle, where the terrain is defined by Black Mountain and the prominent Bighorn Ridge. The landscape is a network of drainage systems and narrow corridors, including the waters of Thirtyone Mile Cr and Paris Cr in the northeast. The central and southern portions of the map show a more open topography characterized by Cottonwood Cr and Waugh Cr, which drain toward the settlement of Poncha Park in the southwest corner.
