The Saint John River defines the northwest corner of this Aroostook County landscape, serving as a primary drainage for a network of forest streams. The terrain is dominated by the course of Blue Brook, which flows northwesterly toward the river, and its tributary system including Johnson Brook. Near the center of the quadrangle, Blue Pond sits as a significant water body in an otherwise heavily wooded and stream-cut environment. Human infrastructure is limited to the logging and access routes of Maibec Rd and Blanchette Rd, which cross the southern and central sections. This 2011 survey illustrates a remote timberland region where the natural drainage of Whitaker Brook and Harding Brook dictates the topography and the layout of the sparse road network.
