Bowers Peak and the high ridges of the La Garita Mountains dominate this 2019 survey of Saguache County. The landscape is defined by the protected wilderness of the Rio Grande National Forest, where steep drainages such as California Gulch and Raspberry Gulch carve through the high-altitude terrain. Human impact is primarily represented by the La Garita Sd, a route that winds through the southern portion of the quadrangle near the distinctive Boot Mtn.
