Villa Grove sits at the southwestern edge of this landscape, where the high peaks of the Sangre de Cristo Range meet the valley floor. The map highlights the sharp transition from the level drainage of San Luis Cr to the massive elevations of Bushnell Peak and Mt Otto along the Fremont and Saguache County line. The alpine terrain is marked by high-altitude water bodies such as W Cr Lake, Stout Cr Lakes, and Bushnell Lakes, several of which are accessible via the Stout Creek Lakes Trail and Bushnell Lakes Trail. In the southern portion of the sheet, the Villa Grove Cem serves as a significant local landmark for genealogical research. The region is largely protected land, divided between the Rio Grande National Forest and San Isabel National Forest, featuring numerous deep drainages like Eaglebrook Gulch and Jack Gulch.
