Camel Mtn rises above the desert floor along the international border in this 2023 survey. This arid landscape is defined by its position on the frontier, where the United States of America Estados Unidos Mexicanos boundary marks the southern edge of the quadrangle. North of the peak, the land is largely protected within the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument, a vast desert expanse that preserves the natural character of the Chihuahuan Desert. The settlement of Malpais sits at the eastern edge of the sheet, connected by a network of rural routes including A003 Co Rd and Co Rd A002. The topographic detail reveals subtle hydrologic features such as Indian Basin in the northwest and the primitive track of Anapra Rd running parallel to the border fence, illustrating the modern management and isolation of this high-desert territory.
