Chaumont and Three Mile Bay anchor this coastal landscape along the northeastern shores of Lake Ontario. The geography is defined by a series of prominent peninsulas and protected inlets, including the deep recess of Chaumont Bay and the narrow land bridge leading to Point Peninsula. The transition from the inland agricultural fields near Rosiere to the maritime environment is marked by numerous family and community cemeteries, such as Wells Cem, Harder Cem, and Harris Cem, which offer significant data points for local genealogy.

Waterborne features dominate the southern half of the map, where Sawmill Bay and Guffin Bay flank the residential clusters at Herrick Grove. Small islands like Cherry Island, Squaw Island, and the cluster of Croyle Island and Crab Island near Point Salubrious reflect the complex shoreline characteristic of this section of Jefferson County. The road network, including Co Rd 57 and Merchant Rd, connects these waterfront settlements to the interior upland drainage of Three Mile Cr and Shaver Cr.
