Coteau des Prairies, a vast glacial upland, dominates this landscape in northeastern South Dakota. The survey reveals a grid of rural section-line roads, such as 170th St and 482nd Ave, that define the agricultural character of Deuel Co and the border with Grant Co to the north. These paths follow the subtle rises and dips of the terrain, crossing several prairie waterways. Mud Cr and Lost Cr drain the northern sections, while Crow Timber Cr meanders through the central and southern reaches of the quadrangle. In the south, Lone Tree Lake sits within a depression typical of the Coteau's pothole topography, providing a distinct landmark in an area otherwise characterized by high-altitude prairie and dispersed farmstead footprints.
