The Ironwood Forest National Monument and the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation converge in this arid landscape of the Avra Valley. The terrain is defined by the sharp elevations of the Roskruge Mountains, where prominent landmarks like Cocoraque Butte and Recortado Mtn overlook a series of working cattle operations including Cocoraque Ranch, Garcia Ranch, and Donaldson Ranch.

Water management is central to the survival of these desert outposts, evidenced by the numerous tanks and wells scattered across the map, such as Ramon Tank and Santa Rita Well. To the east, Brawley Wash drains the valley floor near the Landing Strip and Mile Wide Road. Small-scale mining activity is noted by several prospects in the southern hills, while cattle-handling infrastructure is further marked by the Donaldson Dam and Rock Dam.
