About this map

The Piscataquog River carves a winding path through this corner of New Hampshire, defining the geography of Deering and its outlying settlements. By the early 21st century, the landscape remains a complex of forested hills and significant water bodies, including the Deering Reservoir and the Weare Reservoir. Small, historically distinct clusters such as Slab City, Chase Village, and Clinton Grove are connected by a network of winding roads like Deering Rd and Reservoir Dr. Local history is preserved in numerous family and community burial grounds, including the Bartlett Cem near the Merrimack Co line and South Quaker Cem to the east. The terrain is notably punctuated by numerous named peaks, from Crotched Mtn in the south to the curiously named Sodom Hill and Mt Misery, reflecting the varied elevations of the Hillsborough Co countryside.
