The settlement of Sky Valley occupies the southwestern corner of this desert landscape, where a grid of residential streets like Hot Springs Rd and Sky Valley Rd meets the open alluvial fans of the Little San Bernardino Mountains. Just north of the residential area, the Colorado River Aqueduct traverses the terrain, a critical piece of water infrastructure cutting through the arid landscape. The geography is defined by significant drainage systems, including the namesake East Deception Canyon and West Deception Canyon, which channel seasonal runoff from the high ground toward the valley floor.
