The Canada-United States border defines the northern reaches of this territory, where the Vermont landscape transitions into the French-named hydrologic systems of Quebec. This international boundary separates the southern Vermont road networks from a dense network of waterways to the north, including Lac Selby and Étang Pell. The terrain is deeply inscribed by the Pike River and numerous small brooks such as Sisco Brook and Alder Run, which drain the hills into the larger Canadian river systems.
