Baskahegan Lake and its southern coves anchor this corner of Washington County, where the Maine interior remains defined by extensive wetlands and isolated peaks. This landscape is characterized by a high concentration of bogs and flowages, including the expansive Crabtree Bog and the Alder Brook Swamp. Elevation rises sharply at Farrow Mtn and Musquash Mtn, which provide a vertical contrast to the low-lying drainage basins of Brooks and Walden Brook and Baskahegan Stream.
