Fields serves as the primary outpost in this high-desert landscape of Harney County, positioned at the convergence of Fields Dr and the Catlow Valley Rd. The topography is dominated by the dramatic rise of the Steens Mountain Wilderness, where the terrain ascends toward Steens Mountain and Alvord Peak. To the west, the Long Hollow Summit and Buckwilder Pass provide critical navigational points through the ridges, while the eastern flats open into the Pueblo Valley.
