Mount Baker National Forest encompasses much of this landscape, where the high elevations of Finney Peak and Sutter Mtn dominate the terrain. The northern edge of the map is defined by the Skagit River, a primary drainage for the region, while the southern reaches are carved by the complex headwaters of the N Fork Stillaguamish River and its various branches. Transportation in this vertical environment is largely restricted to corridors like Concrete Sauk Valley Rd and Finney Creek Rd, which provide access to the timberlands and ridges. Local topography is sharply defined by features such as Leonards Ridge and Rinker Ridge, with numerous steep drainages including Finney Cr and Deer Creek feeding into the larger river systems below.
