Gamma Peak and the surrounding high-elevation terrain of the Mount Baker National Forest define this landscape within the Glacier Peak Wilderness. This 2023 survey provides a clear view of the complex glacial systems on the northern slopes of the Glacier Peak massif, including the Vista Glacier, Ermine Glacier, Ptarmigan Glacier, and Dusty Glacier. These ice fields feed a network of drainages such as Vista Creek and Dusty Creek, which eventually contribute to the Suiattle River.

A notable geothermal feature, Gamma Hot Springs, is located along the upper reaches of Gamma Creek, tucked between Gamma Ridge and the volcanic peak. Human passage through this protected wilderness is limited to established paths, most notably the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trl which traverses Miners Ridge. Other historic routes like the Miners Cabin Trl near Image Lake point to the area's history of mineral prospecting prior to its wilderness designation.
