White Sands Missile Range covers the eastern portion of this high-desert landscape in Doa Ana County, where the terrain is defined by a series of drainage basins and vital water management features. The area is characterized by low-lying draws, most notably Goldenburg Draw and Ropes Draw, which channel intermittent runoff across the arid plains. To support ranching or military operations in this dry environment, a network of containment structures was established, including Canfield Tank, Hayden Tank, and Puddle Tank. The presence of Antelope Flat suggests the open, level character of the western sections of this quadrangle. Connectivity through this part of the Chihuahuan Desert is maintained by unpaved tracks like Ropes Rd and Co Rd E078, which navigate the contours between the high flats and the network of dry washes like Cottonwood Draw.
