Goodwin and its surrounding agricultural landscape sit atop the Coteau des Prairies, a high glacial plateau that defines this corner of South Dakota. The town is concentrated along Chicago Ave and Dixon Ave, with the Goodwin Cem located just to the north. This 2017 survey reveals a complex hydrological network of prairie potholes and large basins, including Wigdale Lake, Round Lake, and Bullhead Lake.
