Iron Shell Flat and its surrounding drainage systems define this section of the Rosebud Indian Reservation in Todd County. The landscape is marked by a complex network of seasonal and perennial waterways, including the winding Little White River and several of its tributaries such as Beads Cr and S Ironwood Cr. In the northern portion of the quadrangle, Peyote Cem sits near the headwaters of White Horse Cr, serving as a significant landmark for local history and genealogy. Infrastructure in this rural area is sparse, primarily centered on BIA Road 5 and the crossing at Valandra Bridge. This survey provides a clear view of the land use and natural hydrology of the plains before the transition into the more broken terrain of Cut Meat Cr.
