The town of Kincaid serves as the primary hub in this eastern Kansas landscape, situated just north of the Anderson and Allen county line. The surrounding rural townships are defined by a network of sectional roads and the headwaters of the Little Osage River system, including the N Fork Little Osage River and the Middle Fork Little Osage River. These waterways, alongside smaller tributaries like Coal Creek and Deer Creek, carved the terrain that local settlers claimed for agriculture and burial grounds.
