Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway protects the upper reaches of the river system as it meanders through the northern Wisconsin timberlands of the Chequamegon National Forest. The landscape is dominated by glacial features, including the Esker Trl and a dense network of kettle lakes such as Lake Tahkodah, Star Lake, and Wilson Lake. These water bodies are connected by small streams like Fivemile Cr and Wilson Cr, defining the hydrology of the Bayfield Co and Sawyer Co border.
