Death Valley National Park occupies much of this desert landscape, where the northern extremes of the Mojave Desert meet a series of prominent mountain ranges. The northern portion of the map is dominated by the Eureka Valley, a low-lying basin bounded by the rising slopes of the Last Chance Range to the east and the Saline Range to the south. This terrain creates a dramatic geological transition, marked most notably by the Eureka Dunes, which stand as a focal point of the valley floor.

A single primitive road, the Eureka Dunes Trl, provides the only named access through this portion of the park. The map illustrates the characteristic basin-and-range topography of Inyo County, showing how the drainage patterns and desert floor are shaped by the surrounding peaks. This sheet captures a largely undeveloped wilderness, preserved as part of the federal park system and defined by its isolation and topographical extremes.
