Littlerock and Bordeaux anchor this portion of Thurston County, where the southern reaches of the Capitol Forest meet the unique topography of the Mima Prairie. The landscape is defined by a transition from the elevated peaks of Little Larch Mtn and Mt Molly in the north to the low-lying drainage of the Black River in the south. The area is intersected by a network of logging and access roads such as Road C-4000 and Road C-7000 which climb into the Black Hills.
