The Bad River and its tributaries carve through this northern Wisconsin landscape, converging near the town of Mellen. In this 2005 revision of mid-century topography, the intersection of industrial legacy and conservation is evident as the Soo Line railroad passes through the settled area of Mellen while the North Country Scenic Trail winds through the deep woods to the west. To the north, the dramatic terrain of Copper Falls State Park highlights the river's descent over ancient geological formations, including Tyler Forks.
