South of these peaks, the terrain opens into the expansive Mojave Desert and the Chemehuevi Valley, where the environment levels out near the Chemehuevi Mountains. Human infrastructure is sparse, concentrated primarily along the corridor of US Rte 95, which skirts the eastern edge of the mountains. This 2021 update captures the modern road network, including Stonehill Rd, within a landscape still largely defined by its prehistoric landforms and the vast scale of the California desert.
