Siskiyou National Forest covers much of this Josephine County terrain, where the landscape is defined by a dense network of steep gulches and ridges. The northeastern corner contains the settlement of Old Channel, situated near a series of significant drainages including Rich Gulch and Blanchard Gulch. The topography is anchored by prominent elevations such as Mount Peavine and Cedar Mtn, with Hansen Saddle providing a notable pass between the watersheds of N Fork Silver Cr and the Galice Creek system.
