Sierra Nevada foothills dominate this landscape in eastern Kern County, defined by a complex network of steep drainages and isolated flats. The terrain is deeply incised by Poso Creek and its many tributaries, including Grimaud Cr and Five Dog Cr, which have carved out significant features like Borel Canyon and Adobe Canyon. This 2018 survey illustrates how topography dictates movement through the region, with Granite Rd and Pine Mountain Rd following the natural contours of the land.
