Yosemite National Park occupies much of this landscape, dominated by high elevations of the Sierra Nevada. The terrain is defined by deep glacial valleys such as Thompson Canyon, Kerrick Canyon, and Stubblefield Canyon, which carve through prominent ridges like Bailey Ridge and Macomb Ridge. High-altitude water bodies are scattered throughout the region, including the significant Benson Lake, Tilden Lake, and Murdock Lake.
