The White River and its numerous tributaries, including the West Branch White River and the Tweed River, carve through this section of the Green Mountain National Forest. Small mountain settlements like Robinson, Talcville, and Emerson are connected by winding routes such as Brandon Mountain Rd and Bethel-Mountain Rd. The landscape is dominated by high peaks including Wilcox Peak, Mt Reeder, and Rogers Peak, which rise above the narrow river valleys where much of the local activity is concentrated.
