1893 Map of Rutland

Outside the growing city, the map reveals a network of rural hamlets and stopping points such as Cold River Sta. and North Chittenden. The drainage patterns of Mendon Brook and the Ottauquechee River illustrate the orientation of early mountain roads. This survey, conducted by G.E. Hyde and H.L. Smyth, captures the region before modern development, showing the proximity of the Windsor Co. Rutland Co. Boundary Line to these high peaks.
