Death Valley National Park encompasses the southern portion of this high-altitude desert landscape, where the northern Saline Range meets the edge of the Mojave Desert. The topography is dominated by the prominence of Saline Peak, which serves as a central landmark for the surrounding mountain system. Along the eastern edge of the quadrangle, the slopes of the Last Chance Range rise sharply, illustrating the dramatic basin-and-range geology of Inyo County. This 2018 survey provides a modern topographic record of these remote peaks and protected lands, showing the land divisions of t11s r39e and t12s r39e across a terrain defined by extreme elevation changes and arid ridges.
