Cushion Peak and the slopes of S Mtn Manor define the high ground of this landscape where the Berks and Lancaster county line meets. The transition from these wooded heights to the developed valley floors is marked by a concentration of institutional and community landmarks, including the Villa Maria Infirmary, the South Mountain YMCA Camp, and numerous historic burial grounds such as Saint Johns Hains Cem and the Jesuit Cem.

In the lowlands, the Cacoosing Cr and Tulpehocken Creek provide the primary drainage, with the latter featuring the Union Canal Trail along its banks near Blue Marsh Lake. The settlement pattern shows a dense network of suburban expansion around Sinking Spring, Wernersville, and West Wyomissing, contrasted with the smaller, more isolated communities like Vinemont and Gouglersville found further south toward Adamstown.
