The Lower Granite Gorge marks the eastern reach of Lake Mead in this 2021 study of Mohave County. This landscape represents the dramatic boundary where the Colorado River transitions from the Grand Canyon National Park into the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The western face of the Grand Wash Cliffs towers over the water, defining the edge of the Sanup Plateau. This map documents a series of distinct water features along the northern shore, including Never Shine Cove, Little Bass Cove, and Pidgeon Cove, each separated by dramatic relief. Inland, the terrain is characterized by deep drainage systems like Balanced Rock Canyon and Snap Canyon, while the high desert peaks of The Cockscomb and the area known as Gods Pocket dominate the northern interior of the quadrangle.
